Living Your Dream
Do you remember when you were a small child? Did you have a dream of what you wanted to be? Or as you were growing up, did you have some talent that you were really good at, and enjoyed doing? Are you still doing it?
We went to church last week and the pastor said that her mentor had asked her, “How will I know that you are doing well–that you are enjoying your work?” and she answered, “Ask me if I’m dancing.” She had not always wanted to go into the church, she had trained as a ballerina and loved to dance. So if she is still taking classes and dancing, she is happy. She is well.
So whatever your dream was, whatever it is that you love to do, make sure you are still doing it in some way or another. For example, I love to swim. I got my scuba certification when the children were little and always enjoyed being in the water. So the other day, a friend said that she wanted to go swimming, and I decided then and there that I would take it up again. Jeff is not so much into the water as I am….he loves the air…flying, parachuting, gliding. Together, we have compromised and we go sailing….it’s kind of a water and air combination that works for us.
So whatever it is that you have loved doing in your life, make sure that you get time to do it. One of my mentors told me once, “whatever you plan to do when you retire, do a little of it now…” Here’s to you doing a little of what you love. Rock N Roll Val & Jeff
