Yes, it’s that time of year to take a look at what we want to let go of, and what we want to take hold of in the New Year. And what I realize is that I AM able to create anything I want. Yes, I know it doesn’t materialize right now in front of our eyes, but I do believe that when we act the way we want things to be, then we are bringing our wanted future into our lives right now.
In other words, if you want to be happy, you have to be happy right now. Not wait until events are better, or situations line up so that you can be happy. No…I am happy now….will lead you to a bright new future in 2009.
I am sad now, will lead you down the rocky, hilly road to being sad in 2009.
It’s a tough one, because many of us have been brought up to think that when things go wrong, its because someone else did it to us. The economy is bad, it’s the government, it’s those lying, cheating people who stole the money. It’s this, it’s that. And it doesn’t even matter if that is true. Because your truth and my truth is this….to be happy in the future, is to be happy now. Rock N Roll Val & Jeff

This is the time of year when people start looking back over the year and thinking about making a New Year’s Resolution. And while it’s easy to make resolutions, anyone who has ever given up smoking or succeeded in losing weight and keeping it off, knows it’s not so easy to keep a resolution.
So here is a prayer that may help you on a daily basis. If you’re not into God and Religion, you can substitute ‘Spirit of Life’ or something more to your liking. Here it is:
“God, I offer myself to Thee — to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love and Thy Way of life. May I do Thy will always!”
Some of you may recognize this prayer and be already saying it. What I love about it is that it is asking for a higher power to take away the difficulties, and to ask for help. Rock N Roll Jeff & Val

You may or may not have watched the film called the Secret. It’s a great idea, just like the law of attraction. What we think about, is what we attract into our lives. And I was thinking how easy it sounds…to do that, and how difficult it can be, especially when everything seems to be going wrong.
And yet, I’m convinced that it’s when everything seems to be going wrong that the best work can be done towards getting what you want. Because when everything is going right, there’s not much effort to be made. I can sit back and watch everything unfold wonderfully and amazingly. I get the money I want, the relationships, the job, the contracts….everything just seems to fall into my lap.
I think that’s the cake coming out of the oven and the icing on top. It’s ready to eat. But the work that went into making the cake…that’s where the law of attraction comes into play. That’s where the real work lies.
There’s the recipe to be decided, ingredients to be bought, things have to be put together in a certain way and then mixed or whipped up and finally baked. Even then, it’s not finished. It has to cool down in a certain way, and be iced and plated and served up. Anything can go wrong at any time.
And it’s exactly when things are being made that things do go wrong. The store doesn’t have the right ingredient or the spoon isn’t exactly right, or the dish, or the oven. If you have ever cooked or baked anything you will know that a great deal of effort goes into creating things.
I’m lucky in a way. My father built a 27 foot yacht in our back yard. He crafted every bit of it, from the wooden hull that had to be steamed so that it had the correct bend, to the sails that he made by hand with an old treadle sewing machine. So I’ve seen someone have a dream and then work for years to create it. I even had the good fortune to sail that boat off the coast of North Wales, in the UK. Many summers of fun from that one dream.
So, now, especially now, when things are tight for everyone worldwide, I know that we can accomplish anything we put our minds to. We just have to have a recipe and then go get the ingredients and make it up. For me right now, it’s a book. I want to write a great book and I just have to do it. So what is it that you want? What is your recipe right now? Have it in your mind and enjoy your life. Don’t worry about things that have not happened, or things you think might happen. If the worst thing happens, you will find the courage to deal with it. Until then my friend, enjoy your life on this amazing planet. Rock N Roll Jeff & Val

Sitting writing this blog, on a freezing, icy Chicago day. And just giving thanks for all of the great things that are going on, in my life and in the world. I get the chance to slip and slide on the sidewalk. I get to feel my nose tingling with the cold. And it’s such a wonderful way to be refreshed and to kickstart the day.
We’ve got to remember that every lemon can be made into lemonade. It’s just a state of mind.
Everything is amazing. I just want to understand how lucky I am in my life. because negative thoughts just bring us down, and we don’t need to have them anymore. I just want people to remember how fortunate our lives are. That no matter how bad it gets, something great is just around the corner.
So enjoy this wonderful holiday season and remember, it’s about giving of yourself, of your abilities, of your love. Rock N Roll Jeff

Jeff and I woke up this morning thinking, ‘we need to get some business in.’ So we talked about what we could do and decided to have an ‘end of the year’ sale. We called a couple of clients who immediately said, “Yes, we’ll do some training.”
We could have woken up and just felt bad about business. With all the fear going around right now, we could have just hung our heads and decided not to make phone calls, or create business. And that is what would have happened….no business.
But, it’s not just about making the calls, it’s about the attitude you have when you do it. We’ve confirmed in our talks with each other, that this is what we love to do. Jeff loves to talk about Super Service, and how to have an amazing life, and he does. I love to write and get books published and I do. The 2nd edition of Super Service is now at McGraw-Hill and it’s going to come out next year.
Decide what you love to do. Have a passion about it and then do the work. And if it doesn’t happen the way you want it to happen, don’t take it badly. Just keep going. If you’re in a job that you don’t like, then decide to do the best job you can and I promise you, great things will happen. You will discover something that you love to do and it will come into being. Make it a great day today. Rock N Roll Jeff & Val
