Language to Soothe

When we communicate with people our language can make it easier by using simple words and thinking about positive outcomes. So for example, if someone is having difficulty, you can look for ways that will ease their situation.

Oftentimes, we think that to make a positive influence in someones life, we need to provide big answers, and big solutions, and really we just have to make a small difference to make a big change.

Like this morning, my eldest daughter is having construction done in her home, and as usual, with construction things go awry, from budgeting to finishing on time. So I listened, and then we went over a couple of things. We decided to do a few things differently and it made a huge difference. Really though, I think it was just because I said, “tell me everything that is going on.” “You are completely right to think the way you do.” “I know we can work this out.”
In other words, we are not looking to change the world, we are just looking for ways to soothe the process. To make someone feel a little better than before you talked to them. To make the situation flow more smoothly. Mostly it means listening, soothing words and focusing on a positive outcome. Rock N Roll Jeff & Val

I am Where I am

Here’s a great way to start your life anew regardless of what is going on and where you are in your current situation. When you say to yourself, “I am where I am,” it takes the pressure of trying to change the past or redirect the future. You are where you are and it is the best possible place to be for right now. Because from where you are, you can do anything you want.

What do you want to do? Where do you want to be? The only way to get there is to be happy with where you are right now. Leading a happy and fulfilled life is not about being happy when you get certain things or attain certain status. Being happy and fulfilled in the future means that you have to be happy and fulfilled right now.

And here’s the amazing thing. You don’t have to go directly to being extastic, you can just make a small change in how you feel. Be a little bit happier, be a little less anxious, worry a little bit less. Turn your boat in the direction of being happy and you will become happy. And from that point of view, you can go anywhere you want to go. If you have thoughts on this, please post them. Rock N Roll Jeff and Val
