Your Journey

It’s sometimes easy to get so involved in reaching our goals that we forget about how we are getting there. In fact, the getting there is so much a part of the goal that we really should rename goal setting: “It’s not getting there, it’s how you get there that matters.” Of course some people may say, “it’s not how you get there, it’s the fact that you do get there.” But don’t you want to get there feeling great? Feeling happy, fulfilled and full of life?

I heard something the other day that made so much sense to me that I am going to share it with you. “If you are not satisfied with where you are, you will never reach where you want to be.” In other words, if you think you will be happy once you reach your goal, but you are unhappy where you are…you most likely will reach your goal and wonder why it hasn’t made you happy. Goals are just destinations…no more, no less. The journey there is everything.

So start where you are, right now and be happy and satisfied with what you have. That is the whole thing in a nutshell. Be happy now and you will be happy when you reach your goal. Be unhappy now, and you will be unhappy when you reach your goal. It does make sense because the reality is, most people do not wake up one morning really, really happy, if they have been really, really unhappy for years and years.

Now is the beginning of your journey. Whereever you are going, whatever you are doing, be happy now. Appreciate all the things in your life. Appreciate all the people in your life. Appreciate the problems that you have to solve. Appreciate your state of health. Appreciate your familiy. Appreciate your co-workers, customers, your boss. Appreciate the company that you work for. Start now and the rest of your journey will be filled with appreciation, happiness and joy. Rock N Roll Val & Jeff
