Paying Attention

When your mind is elsewhere it’s difficult to pay attention to what other people are saying and a great way to overcome this is to use active listening techniques such as “Repeating what the other person has said before you say your own thoughts.”

That’s right repeating what the other person just said. I know it sounds simple and it doesn’t mean you have to repeat them word for word, in fact that would be really annoying for everyone involved. It’s just about paraphrasing what they just said like for example, “You like people to be on time….” or, “So if I understand you correctly you just said….”

Other technqiues include looking people in the eye (without being in a staring competition), focusing on the meaning behind the words, or on their tone of voice, and of course noticing their body language and mirroring it so they feel comfortable. So whatever technique you use today….make it active, positive, and enthusiastic. Have a great day. Rock ‘N Roll Jeff & Val

Abundance and What we Think

We become what we think about most. Which means that we have to take responsibility for what we think about. Makes sense doesn’t it. If we think about not having enough money and get freaked out when bills arrive on the doorstep, then that is what we are creating….a very bad feeling about money. What about turning it around. Think about all the abundance in your life. Friends, family, co-workers that you get along with. Being in a country which has food that you can shop for easily. Washing machines so that you don’t have to go to the river and scrub your clothes on a stone. Yes it sounds a bit corny….and if we dont appreciate what we have then what is the point of having it?

If we think thoughts of lack, and I don’t have enough, and they’ve got too much they don’t deserve it. All of these will constrict your way of thinking. Like a kind of shrinking process. Abundance thoughts allow expansion. Money expansion, joy expansion, happiness expansion. So live today, right now in this present moment of you reading these words as if you have everything that you want. Feeling these kind of thoughts allows you the platform to expand into other things…like a diving board from which to dive into your life feeling amazing, being amazing and living the kind of life you want to live. Positive Decisions

There are many ways to make a decision. You can make a list of the advantages and disadvantes of making a certain choice. You can use your intuition to decide, or you can ask other people, “what do you think I should do?” The best way to make a decision that will last, is to do the thing that makes you feel good. If you make a decision based on what makes you feel the best, then you are more likely to stick with the decision.

To live a good life full of well-being, joy and happiness is to make good choices. Why would anyone make any other kind of choice? That would be making very hard work of your life. Remember, you have one life right now here, right now, now, now. What is going to make you feel good? What is going to make you wake up in the morning and say, “I am so glad to be alive–today is going to be the best day ever!”

And if you are thinking, “it sounds great,  but my life is not very happy right now.” Then the most immediate thing you can do to make a positive change for a better life, is to do everything today as if it really counted. Like it was the most important day of your life and you had to get it right. To smile at other people, to spread joy, to be happy, to laugh really hard, to make healthy choices about your food, your thoughts, your way of being. Rock ‘N Roll Jeff & Val

Completing Tasks & Breathing

There is something freeing about completing things. As you go about your work today, take responsibility for everything you are doing. You have no idea how many people are looking to you as a reliable and valuable member of the team! So work mindfully, pay attention to detail and use breath awareness to keep you focused.

What’s breath awareness you might ask? Its really just noticing how you are breathing. If you are breathing in a shallow way, you may need to slow down a bit, relax, take in a deep breath and remember that “you are above ground!” I love this thought. Above ground means we are still alive and kicking. A great place to be when you consider the alternative.

Breathing is obviously necessary and it is also a very powerful tool to just being aware of where we are and how we are doing. Breathing in a rhythmic way will keep you calm and help you take stock of what you are doiing. So set positive goals to accomplish all your tasks today and have a fabulous day above ground! Taking Action

It’s not possible to tackle every problem at the same time. So today, focus on one issue that is closest to your heart and will have the most impact on your life at work and at home. The action could be as simple as doing some research, writing a letter to someone in charge and letting them know your thoughts, or posting your ideas in a blog or newsletter.

When we look at all the work that needs to be done it can be overwhelming, so taking one step at a time makes sure that things get done….it’s when we feel too overwhelmed to do anything that the real problems start.  Every positive and constructive step that you take today will make things move not just in your own life, but in the lives of those around you. Appreciate Your Resources

When you realize all the amazing resources at your fingertips you will begin to appreciate the abundance that life has given you. We have so much and sometimes we forget and get into the habit of yearning for more….for something we don’t have, or for something that another person has. Let’s not do that today.

I’m old enough to remember the typewriter! Back in those days, there wasn’t even a copying machine. Everything had to be typed in triplicate onto carbon copies. We had to really PUNCH the keys to make sure they hit the carbon. No fax machines…no emails…the list goes on.

So today, let’s celebrate everything that we have. Let’s celebrate our computers, our emails, our copying machines, our faxes. Let’s celebrate our co-workers, our friends, our family. Let’s not wait until a birthday, or a holiday to tell people how much we appreciate them. Let’s make it now…let’s look at the bright side of life and be the best that we can be…just for today! Group Effort

Sometimes it’s refeshing to let go of the the focus on self and allow ourselves to depend on another person to accomplish our goals. Here’s a couple of key steps:

1) Visualize yourself as an integral part of a team

2) Let go of the boundaries that keep you separate from other people

3) Imagine that there is nothing separating you from the world.

It’s often natural to want to break away from the group and just be our individual selves, yet when we let go of our ego and our personal agendas, we can work collaboratively to achieve greater goals. Letting go of the boundaries we have created will allow us to unite, share, and give to others selflessly today. Develop Empathy

There are a couple of surefire ways to develop empathy. 1) put yourself in other people’s shoes–how would you feel in their situation? 2) think before you speak and 3) is what you are going to say kind, necessary or wise?

Developing empathy will automatically increase your level of consciousness and make you an ‘uplifter’ rather than someone who brings people and situations down. You will be a person who brings joy and happiness rather than sadness and pain.

There are many people who are living with daily struggles and challenges, by developing empathy you not only help improve other peoples lives, your life improves also as a result. Law of Attraction makes it so. Rock N’ Roll Jeff & Val
