Millionaires
I just watched this documentary on millionaires–or should I say, people who have won the lottery. Out of the five people profiled–2 had lost all their money, one woman was still lonely, one man didn’t talk to his sons and seemed quite depressed, and one couple were happy–except for holding a big grudge against a family member who had expected some of the money, didnt get any and walked out of their lives in a huff. Conclusion–money may ease some of the problems but we are still left with who we are.
In other words, money does not transform the personality. If you are a spender you will most likely keep spending until it’s all gone. If you are lonely, you will still be lonely, and if you are the kind of person who holds grudges, then you will still hold grudges.
Summary–let’s be happy right now. Whatever is going on in our lives lets make the choice to be grateful for what we have. We have so much to be grateful for. Just a simple thing like having a roof over your head is huge for people who don’t. A simple thing like grocery shopping and choosing which tomato to buy or whether to have chicken or steak for dinner is huge for people who have very little food and no choices. Let’s just be grateful for everything that we have–because to me it seems like money may buy us more things–but it doesnt buy happiness.
